The Historic Clay Theater

Formerly, the Clay Theater served as the public square and cinematic center of Pacific Heights. Sadly, it was closed and in disrepair when we purchased it in early 2024, after it had sat vacant for nearly four years.

Originally opened in 1913 the theater has a storied heritage. It was home to early cinema, foreign films, and groundbreaking movies like John Waters’ Pink Flamingos and midnight showings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. We are dedicated to reviving this beloved theater and cultural asset. Our intention is to bring it up to and beyond its former glory, and ensure that the Clay Theater remains a vibrant space for cinema, arts and entertainment for generations to come.
